Fargo truck by Chrysler 1941

November 15th, 2011

Photo of vintage Fargo truck from the early 1940's.

This is the remains of a (*1) 1941-3 Fargo FL-6S 60, 2.5 ton truck. Even with the inside gutted and body stripped of external ornaments, It still looks solid. Years of weathering the elements have produced a patina of red paint on the exterior bodywork. A classic example of Streamline Moderne design.

Double Exposure

Black and white photo of Union Train station (Toronto Ontario).

Analog manual cameras provide total control over all variables of the imaging process. Canon’s legendary A1 camera is great for double exposure photography. Was inspired to try this technique after viewing some early experimental art films from the 1920′s.

The lure of dancing, drinking and sex lure weekend revelers to the downtown core. Some folks congregate with the intention of  enjoying and sharing music with others. These are some of those people. It’s not a style, it’s a lifestyle.

These photos are compiled from a benefit party for DJ Kool Herc, the “Godfather of Hip Hop”. Several  Toronto DJ’s and supportive people gathered for this worthy cause. When everyone sings along with the records, then you’re in a good party

Representation of people in my previous photography projects are few. A friend suggested event photography as a project. Classic Jazz, Rock and R&B photos from the 1940′s-50′s, served as an inspiration. Here are the results.

Porters load baggage on cargo cars. After a short wait, find the appropriate passenger car. A conductor will check tickets before departure.

Trains and railways are a definitive part of Canadian history and identity. Without it, the east coast and west coast would have difficulty in trading and governance through a centralized bureaucratic structure. Steam powered trains are still impressive.
